Kerala-God's own country
Kerala, the south Indian state,is a beautiful land and is fondly called by its inhabitants "God's own country". The people whose mother tongue is malayalam are of a very special kind. Malayalees, known over the world as trusted and studious workers, completely change their attitudes and behaviour once they are within the state. In their own state they are generally a rebellous lot with no work culture who go on strikes and agitations at the drop of a hat. The labour unrest in the state has compelled many an enterpreneur to flee the state and set up shop outside. This dichotomy in the behaviour of Keralites is a topic worthy of discussion.Another peculiar behaviour pattern of the Malayalee is his superstition and faith in the supernatural. Though the state claims to be the most literate in the country, the people behave in quite irrational fashion. The multiplicity of religion, notwithstanding, one of the most lucrative profession today is Astrology. This, coupled with the alarming statics of suicides in the state reveal a very disturbing personality trait. People are afraid of everything. How do we analyse this behaviour and how can it be corrected?
